Successfully Using Invisalign
- One of the best advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces is that the trays are removable. This lets you eat the foods you love and continue to give care for your teeth with brushing and flossing. Your cleaning routine for your Invisalign trays is similar to caring for a mouthguard, with regular brushing and rinsing.
- Your aligners may look like slim clear mouthguards, but they are not. Their purpose is to straighten your teeth, not protect them from sports injuries. Please continue to use an approved mouthguard during sports.
- Your straightening trays are removable, but avoid taking them out too many times during a day. They only work while they are in your mouth, and they need to be there for 20 to 22 hours a day. Some wearers say using them has cut back on their snacking or soda drinking habits, because you do want to keep them in the majority of the day so your teeth will stay on schedule.
- You’ll get a new set of aligners every two weeks. When you switch them out, be sure to keep the last pair in case you lose the newest ones. That way you can wear the older ones while waiting for your replacements. Each new set of Invisalign trays will bring you that much closer to your dream smile, so you’ll start to look forward to receiving each new pair and taking good care of them so they can do their job.
