We’ve all seen them in the stores — toothpastes that promise to whiten our teeth. Gels and liquids that promise to make our smile whiter. Disposable little packets that mold to fit our mouth, promising to make our teeth shine!
If it’s so easy to whiten teeth, why are so many people walking around with yellow and stained ones? What could be missing in all these promises? What’s missing are the professionals at Carmichael’s Marconi Dental Group — they really know how to get your teeth looking their whitest and brightest.
Good Candidates for Tooth Whitening
A good candidate for tooth whitening is someone who has healthy teeth, but a smile that has dulled or yellowed. This can occur simply over time, or from habits that have caused stains, such as smoking or lots of coffee and tea sipping. If you have teeth that were discolored by medication, our experienced team can direct you to a more satisfying solution such as veneers, saving you both time and disappointment.
Why Not Use OTC Tooth Whiteners?
Can over-the-counter (OTC) products be harmful to you? Some kinds of whitening toothpastes can be so abrasive that you could damage the protective layer of your healthy teeth, a much more serious issue than a dull or yellow smile. If you opt for OTC whitening kits, the chemical solution can leak out of the one-size-fits-all trays and onto your gums. That doesn’t sound fun, let alone very healthy.
The Process of Tooth Whitening
Buy your shampoo and kitty litter at the corner drug store, but leave the whitening of your smile up to a team of experts. What can you expect? We offer two different processes, depending on your circumstances: Zoom! treatment and standard treatment. For standard tooth whitening, two visits to the convenient Carmichael office of the Marconi Dental Group will have you all set. First, we’ll make a mold of your mouth and teeth. On your second visit, you receive your custom made just-for-you trays and whitening agents. You will leave feeling confident to use the trays at home, either at night or during the day. They will fit nicely and keep the whitener where it belongs, snug against your teeth doing the job to get your teeth looking fresher and younger. Is there a third step? Get out your camera and start snapping up pictures of the new improved you!
